Niche put together a list of the top places in Texas to raise a family, reports the Austin Business Journal. Only two Central Texas towns made the top 10: West Lake Hills at number one and Rollingwood at number two. Both cities scored high for being located in the highly ranked Eanes school district, but suffered on affordability measures.
If you are looking to raise your child in Westlake, many apartments have spectacular views and great amenities. In general, complexes have one-bedroom to two-bedroom units, with rents ranging from $1224 to $3714. Amenities usually include being located in the highly rated Eanes school district, views of Lake Austin and the 360 Bridge, billiards or movie rooms, and resort-style fitness centers and pools. Square footage ranges from around 780 to 1,700 square feet.
Rollingwood is a small city within a city, and doesn’t have any apartment communities within its boundaries. However, if you are looking to get close to Rollingwood, an apartment locator can help you find a great apartment nearby.
Other Austin-area towns made the top 30 on the list, including Brushy Creek at number 16. Brushy Creek is located West of 1-35, East of 183, and north of 45. It is in the highly rated Round Rock school district and is close to the Domain.
Rents for a one-bedroom in Brushy Creek range from $750 in an older complex to $1,022 in a newer community and $1,022 in an older complex to $1,514 in a luxury community for a two-bedroom. Some family-friendly three bedrooms are available, but usually go quickly. Amenities in the higher-end apartment complexes often include leash-free dog parks, attached and detached garages, and garden tubs with separate showers with glass surrounds.
The majority of Bee Cave apartment communities have one, two, and three bedroom plans available, with square footage starting at 660 and going all the way up to 1350 for 3 bedrooms. Most are newer because the area was developed within the last few years, and rent ranges from around $1100 to $2000 per month. In general, amenities include reserved covered parking, a social calendar with activities for residents, and hike and bike trails. Many apartments have hill country views, full-size washer and dryer connections, and granite counters in the kitchen and baths.
Leander ranked 21st on Niche’s list and is located around 183 south of 29. Residents here enjoy the small-town feel, highly ranked Leander school district, and proximity to the Metro Rail, which takes commuters into Austin. A Leander campus of the Austin Community College system is currently under construction.
Leander has lots of apartment options, including some with coveted private backyards, great for kids and dogs, and trail access to the Leander MetroRail station. One and two bedroom apartments are available at most communities, in general ranging from 670 to 1,100 square feet and from $960 to $1330. Many newer complexes have units with upgraded kitchens with granite counters and glass tile backsplashes, as well as wood-like floors in the living areas.
Rounding out Niche’s list is Round Rock, located on IH 35, north of 45 and south of 1431. Round Rock is now so much more than just the home of Dell Computer or a suburb of Austin, but is now beloved by residents for benefits like Round Rock Outlet shopping, baseball at the Dell Diamond, and award winning Round Rock ISD schools.
There are a lot of options when searching for an apartment in Round Rock. One bedrooms generally start at 639 square feet and $920, two bedrooms generally start at 1,148 square feet and $1,315, and three bedrooms are approximately 1336-1560 square feet and cost between $1597 and $1915, depending on location and unit finishes. Many communities are pet friendly with dog parks and have garage parking available. Some even have available golf course views! Other common luxuries include gourmet kitchens, often with breakfast bars or islands, ceramic tile in kitchens, entryways and bathrooms, and walk-in closet with organizational shelving.
