This month, we’re spotlighting the Milwood neighborhood of Austin, Texas. This week, we’ll be taking a look at the schools and some of the employers in this North Austin community.
Milwood residents attend Austin ISD Schools. Students in grades Kindergarten through fifth go to Summit Elementary, which is ranked Recognized by the TEA. Summit’s mascot is the Eagle and their mission is to ensure student success by creating a safe and positive environment in which community, administration, teachers, parents and students work cooperatively as we “Soar to Excellence.”
Milwood residents in grades six through eight attend Murchison Middle School. Their mascot is the Matador and their colors are orange and gold. Murchison’s mission is to inspire lifelong learning and citizenship while fostering social responsibility and personal well-being.
Students in grades nine through twelve attend Anderson High School, whose mascot is the Trojans and whose colors are Blue and Gold. The mission of Anderson High School is to work together as a community to enable individual growth, to develop personal success and to make a positive contribution to our global society.
As far as employers in and near Milwood, its convenient location makes it an ideal homebase from which to commute to downtown Austin, Round Rock, and all points in between.
Oracle has an office just over a mile from Milwood. It is an American multinational computer technology corporation that specializes in developing and marketing computer hardware systems and enterprise software products.
B.I.T. Construction Services is less than a mile away from Milwood and is a certified construction contractor specializing in commercial work.
