Millwood

Austin’s changing fast, and since it’s been three years since we explored the Milwood neighborhood, so we thought it would be a good time to revisit this quiet, tree-lined neighborhood less than fifteen miles Northwest of downtown and see what makes it one of the best neighborhoods in Austin.

Located south of Parmer Lane, west of Mopac, east of Anderson Lane, and north of 183, residents enjoy highly rated schools and access to nature via lots of parks and a greenbelt.  However, it’s still easy to get to work or shopping via the nearby freeways, plus the Domain is just five miles away.

Students attend schools in Austin ISD.  For grades Kindergarten through fifth, students attend Summit Elementary.  For sixth through eighth grade, children go to Murchison Middle School and for grades ninth through twelfth, they complete their public education at Anderson High.

General Tso’ Boy combines Chinese and American flavors on Easy Tiger’s delicious french bread for the perfect meal.  Their fries are also to die for and they pride themselves on making everything from scratch.

Kebab Time delivers exactly what the name suggests: tasty, fresh, kebabs.  The baklava is also described as “to die for” by patrons.

Top Golf is less than ten minutes from Milwood and has a full menu, full bar and of course a driving range!  A great way to have fun with friends, even if you don’t know the first thing about swinging a club.

Nearby employers include PayPal, which operates one of the world’s largest online payment systems.  Their Austin offices are on Parmer Lane near Anderson Mill Road.

Another employer near Milwood is Ebay, located next to PayPal’s offices.  Ebay is an online auction site.

There are several great apartment communities in Milwood.  Highline has one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom apartments ranging from 668 to 1,299 square feet.  Apartments feature granite counters in the kitchen and baths, full-size washer and dryers, USB-charging stations, alarm systems, and large walk-in closets.  The community has an on-site car wash, a fenced in dog park, a 24-hour fitness center with yoga studio, and a game and billiards room.

The Monterra is another great Millwood apartment community.  Located off Parmer Lane and close to Apple’s campus, Monterra has one bedroom, two bedroom, and three bedroom apartments ranging from 592 to 1,238 square feet.  The community has a theater presentation room, a virtual golf simulator, complete concierge services, garage parking, and an indoor sport court.  Apartments have full size washer and dryers, ceramic tile in bathrooms, nine foot ceilings, open concept living areas, and charging stations with USB outlets.
